What is Fatherhood?

Fatherhood is an organization of dads coming together as father-mentors to kids, young men and women, and married men.  We want to be a voice for an absent father, to talk, instruct, and give vision or enlightenment to situations in someone’s life.  We want to make ourselves available for people to come to us for information, advice, knowledge, and direction.  Fatherhood will touch on everything a biological father should be doing, but for some reason, are not or cannot.

In the future, with donations or investors, we want to be able to help send children to college or trade schools; help pay for daycare while the parent is working or going to school; help feed single-parent families, as well as help with their bills; and help with transportation and job searches.

Another key factor for Fatherhood is to teach young men who became fathers earlier than planned the responsibilities of being a father and a man, teaching them how to best support their children and children’s mothers.  For married men who need help with fatherhood, relationship issues, and marriage, we want to serve as mentors. In addition, we can help with finding professional marriage and family counseling, when necessary; for example, when parents who live in different residences are trying to raise their children together without conflicts and need some intervention.

Another goal is to place fathers at schools in the community for safety reasons before and after school, such as having a father patrol the school grounds while the kids are in their classrooms.  We would also be available to assist with students who have behavior issues due to a lack of structure in the home.

Fatherhood is a faith-based organization bringing Christian morals and values into our children’s and young adults’ lives by helping men make positive decisions.  It starts with the men to make our community, as well as our families, safe.  Fatherhood will do what it takes, within our power, to help and protect our children and guide men toward reformation.
